2009 SPORTFISHING SEASON

With the winter long behind us and our yearly haul-out complete the Cape Queen and crew are ready for the 2009 season. The striper bite as always will continue through the spring and hopefully the drum season will be as eventful as 2008! Spring will turn full bore into the summer season. Early June will mean warmer water bringing the first mako sharks back up the coast in their quest for food. Sea bass, tog, flounder, croakers, and more will move back into the inshore waters, wrecks, and reefs of the Jersey coast. As the Gulf Stream draws nearer to our shores; tuna, mahi-mahi, sword fish, wahoo, and marlin will all be with-in striking range. Capt. Andy, boat, and crew are ready for some of Cape May’s most popular seasons.

The Cape Queen has proven to be a formidable fishing platform. Unlike most boats on the Jersey Coast, we are certified by the USCG to carry more than six passengers. We can easily accommodate your family and corporate charters of eight or more passengers. We provide all the gear, tackle, and bait you will need for a day of fishing. For nearly the same price that you will pay to be herded onto a “head” boat, enjoy the comfort of a private charter. The memories will long outlive your day on the water!

We would like to welcome back our charters that will be returning from prior seasons. Bud Heissler from Hatzel & Buehler of Philadelphia will be first followed by Fred Thiel, Steve McNeal,Matt McCartney, Tom Ely, Randy Culbertson and more... Good Luck Gentleman and we'll see you on the boat!
If you will be vacationing near us this summer, be sure to book your charter as early as possible. Choice dates and week-ends are already filling for the 2009 season.
2009 will also mark the beginning of the Cape Queen's diving season. If interested please send us an email for open charter dates. We are anxious to dive and spearfish the numerous historic wreck sites off Cape May's coast.

October 31, 2008: While many were going door to door trick-or-treating on Halloween. A loyal group of Capt. Andy's customers headed up into the Delaware Bay striper fishing. They were rewarded for their efforts (and braving the sunny, but chilly weather) with a phenomal day on the water. Final tally was 6 fish with 5 of them measuring over 40 inches! Truly one of the finest catches coming across the dock at South Jersey Marina in years. Congratulations guys!

2008 HIGHLIGHTS

The 2008 fishing season set the Cape Queen apart. Capt. Andy Merendino, boat, and crew proved to be one of the premier fishing charter services in Cape May. No other boat did so much – so well. Whether it was a crew of four trolling for tuna and marlin in the Gulf Stream or family charter of twelve flounder fishing in the Ol’ Grounds all had a memorable experience.

On June 6th Capt. Andy and Nickolas Tarr's charter had the oppurtunity to fight and land this aggresive 162lb mako. Click on the link below for a full report and more pictures.
